Sustainable solution in prefabricated building sector: Light Steel Building Systems
Sustainable Brands Conference gathered sustainability professionals together and officials from Prefabrik Yapı A.Ş., leading company in the light steel building sector, gave information during the conference regarding sustainable product designs. Prefabrik Yapı A.Ş. Deputy General Manager Mustafa Tolunay shared information with the professionals from the sector about the company’s operations and technological investments focused on sustainability.
Sustainable Brands Conference was organized in Swissotel The Bosphorus on 28-29 May. Prefabrik Yapı A.Ş. Deputy General Manager Mustafa Tolunay gave a speech titled “Sustainable Product Design in B2B: An Example from the Building Sector” and conveyed sustainable brand targets of the company in the conference.
0 carbon emission container: Mars
Mr. Tolunay stated in his speech that Prefabrik Yapı A.Ş. is investigating on sustainability since 2004 and said, “We are developing innovative, ecological buildings prioritising saving of time, material, energy and work power in these prefabricated buildings where light steel building systems are applied. We are making a difference in the sector with ecological – green buildings producing their own energy, with their raw material of 100% recyclable steel and other product elements with 90% environmental transformation and 0 carbon emission. This year MARS container was selected as one of the best applications in the Innovation section of IMSAD’s Sustainability Report. Without requiring gas, all power requirement of the building is supplied by the photovoltaic panels mounted on the roof. It has high resistence to all kinds of climate and nature conditions with cold, hot and mild facade types. It provides easy transportation and assembling in as many countries as 80, from Siberia to Algeria, Iceland to Saudi Arabia with its feature of easy portability.”
Sustainable buildings for brand cities: Multi-storey green buildings
Mr. Tolunay also emphasized the importance of creating brand cities and stated “Brand cities must be sustainable cities and sustainable cities should be built in sustainable buildings. We are continuing our range of product designs with multi-storey buildings we call green buildings. This is a first in the sector and we produced the 8-storey steel building for the first time in Turkey. We can design prefabricated highrise buildings durable to earthquake with this technology. Our multi-storey light steel buildings will become an ideal option for housing, school, military, health and public buildings.”
Sustainable development approach
Mr. Tolunay’s speech titled “Sustainable Product Design in B2B: An Example from the Building Sector” was given between 12:00-12:20 P.M. on 29th of May. Mr. Tolunay stated that Prefabrik Yapı A.Ş. does not approach sustainability from a single perspective and said “besides the environmental aspect of sustainability, social and economic dimensions of it are also very important for us. We are determining Sustainable Environment and Development targets in this context. We are determinig our perspective, make investments, give importance to R&D and P&D investments and make initiatives with systainable development approaches and development which is among our development methods.”
